WHAT WE DO

Sri. G D Naidu, also known as the Edison of India, was a great scientist and philanthropist of his time, who lived between March 1893 to January 1974.

A man with very little education, he accomplished very many interesting feats in his lifetime. Starting his life in 1931 as a bus driver of his own bus, over a period of time he ended up owning a fleet of 600 buses, which was very professionally run, based on British standards. He employed an Englishman as the Manager of his Bus service.

Not only was he the king of the Transport sector, he was a born innovator, who kept challenging himself to innovate new things, be it in the field of automobile, electronics, agriculture or siddha medicine.

The G D Naidu Memorial Gallery gives a vivid picture of the life and achievements of this interesting personality, with a display of various gadgets and items he innovated and manufactured during his life time. He had several innovations to his credit – Auto cylinder, Radio, UMS Blade, Electronic Voting Devices, Recording Machine, Electric Motors, etc.

Sri. G D Naidu travelled around the world and made friends across various continents. The pictures in the Gallery showcase his International travels and interesting anecdotes.

The Gallery also highlights his contribution to the society in terms of vocational education (both for men and women) and the GD Naidu Science Museum, which he established to showcase evolution of technology & innovations in various fields for the benefit of younger generations.

The G D Naidu Memorial Gallery is housed inside the GD Naidu Science Museum and it may take around half an hour to go through the various posters and interesting episodes of his life.

The memorial would inspire the youngsters into thinking that any task is achievable, if one puts his heart and soul to the purpose. If one man could accomplish so many things in his lifetime without modern facilities and technology, anybody holding the same spirit can also achieve the impossible.
